Catalina employees are our best advertisement for why Catalina is such a great place to work!

“I used to work at a facility where I was responsible for 20-30 residents. I never had the time to really serve all their needs or get to know them better. Since working with Catalina, I now work one-on-one with a client in this home. I feel I can better serve them and answer theirs needs instead of rushing from person to person.” Susie, CNA

“Catalina is a great place to work. It has always amazed me that the entire office staff knows all the employees and can call everyone by name. Since we are out in the field with our clients, and no in the office very much, it is always such a nice surprise to be cheerfully recognized when we go into the office.” Dana, (Retired after 19 years with Catalina) , CNA

“At other companies I’ve worked for, we were just told our client’s name and address. Here at Catalina, we are actually given a briefing about our client, with some information, including health issues, client’s behavior, what to do with the client, if they have pets and more! It’s really nice knowing what you are walking into.” Joan, NA

“I’ve worked for other agencies and I have never seen a company try as hard as Catalina does to create consistency in caregivers to clients. I have had the same two clients for the two years I have worked here. This has given me the opportunity to develop a relationship with my clients and that makes be a better caregiver.” Jackie, CNA

“I have been a caregiver for a long time. I find the support that we caregivers get from the nurse and the staff at Catalina has helped me get through some challenging situations. I have worked in some other places that you were basically thrown out into the field and left to fend for yourself – not at Catalina. They have always made me feel part of a team, not just an employee. ” Tina, NA

“Since working here, I really feel appreciated. They do different things for us throughout the year. I have also received bonuses and years of service pins, holiday bonuses and we were even recognized for Nursing Assistants week – I didn’t even know there was one! They even tell me ‘thank you’ and that I am doing a great job! Imagine that – being told ‘thank you’ when I’m just doing my job! Other places say then acknowledge you, but you never see it. Here, you truly do.” Barbara, CNA

As a Catalina In-Home Service employee, either as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Nursing Assistant (NA), each caregiver works with clients in their homes, in a hospital or in an assisted living facility. Employees develop a nurturing and rewarding relationship with each client while working with them one-on-one. The relationships benefit the employee, the client, and family members.

Prior to being assigned to a client, each employee receives detailed information about the client, is given a Care Plan, and will receive support and direction from the Catalina nurse and the Catalina team to assist him/her in working with the client. In addition to an employee’s utilizing professional skills, companion skills are helpful when taking a client for doctor’s appointments, assisting with shopping and running errands. Most clients need light housekeeping and laundry services, as well as meal planning and preparation. An employee’s training, experience, special touches and attention to detail will bring happiness to a client who feels safe and well-cared for.
